Thick film is a form of solar cell that was originally developed in the 1800’s but it has recently made a comeback as an efficient and cost-effective option. Thick film solar cells are created using a thick layer of conductive material such as tin or aluminum that is deposited onto a substrate. They are significantly less efficient than the other three types of solar cells listed above but due to their high cost-effectiveness, they are able to make up for their inefficiencies in other areas.
