The Solar Industry In California
The growth of the solar industry in California can be traced back to the historic Solar Decathlon, held in San Francisco in September 2012. The showcase of solar technologies drew more than 10,000 visitors to the area and kickstarted the renaissance of the local solar industry.
The Solar Decathlon is now an annual event and has become the world’s largest solar fair. It features more than 300 exhibitors and provides a showcase for the best solar technology available. The annual event also draws thousands of people to San Francisco every September. With the support of government agencies and solar energy advocates, the local industry has been able to flourish.
CALSEIA’s Role
CALSEIA provides a variety of services to the solar energy community, including networking and education programs. In addition, our trade show provides a showcase for the industry, while our annual conference brings together industry practitioners for networking and education sessions.
CALSEIA’s educational programs, the Solar Power School (SPS) and the Green Technology Entrepreneurship Training Program (GT-E-Train) are designed to equip participants with the tools necessary to succeed in the solar energy industry. The SPS program is open to high school students, while the GT-E-Train program is open to adults interested in pursuing an entrepreneurial career in the solar energy industry.
CALSEIA also hosts an annual trade show featuring more than 300 exhibitors. The event, Energy Innovation West, brings together the leaders of the industry from across the western United States. The 2020 edition of Energy Innovation West is slated for September 17-19 in San Francisco.
