BEAMING AND EMAILING
THE TEAM DEPENDED
ON ELECTRONS, not paper, to record and share information.
BEAMING. Each team
member had a Personal Digital Assistant to record notes, thoughts,
and sketches. To share them, they used the PDA's ability to "beam"
notes from one to another. An updated schedule, for example, could
be passed quickly to every member of the expedition, even out in the
field.
EMAILING.
The team members had email addresses and Internet access at their
workstations. If they found interesting material, they emailed it
to the other members.
The team also
constructed their final presentation in electronic format. To go with
their presentations, they constructed slides, charts and graphs, and
used the large presentation screen at the Burns Telecom Center to
display these to their audience.
